Anna Avgeri, a professional dentist but also an accomplished painter, exhibited her paintings from the 13th to the 28th of June. Her work was inspired by Greek mythology and was titled: “Passion”. She left behind two paintings, one showing her expression of the myth of our island’s birth and the other depicting the naval battle of Illyrian Queen Tefta. Both paintings can be seen in the Council Meeting Hall in Gaios. Maria Tellung exhibited her recent work from the 8th to the 17th of July with great success despite the so called economic crisis. Young Corfiat painter, Spyridoula Zahou exhibited part of her work under the title “Glances’ during the second fortnight of July. Whoever visited the municipal art gallery of the Customs House enjoyed walking around paintings of glances of famous or ordinary people full of intensity and listened to Michalis …. playing Jazz or classical pieces on his viola. During the first fortnight of August the Municipal art gallery is hosting the British painter, Jill Bennet, who is exhibiting paintings and lithographs under the title: “Lithos, Thalassa, Elia” (Stone, Sea, Olive tree). Her work reflects details of Paxos and Tenos landscape of the recent past.
