We have all seen old dilapidated vehicles at the small port of Agrapidia or in various spots all over Antipaxos, hidden under thick bush or used as rubbish “bins” by people, who could not be bothered with carrying their rubbish to Paxos. Finally, there has been a stop to that. The municipal authorities made an agreement with the owner of the cargo boat “Mariana” and all the old cars, old electric appliances etc were carried to Paxos. Wooden boats, a long time out of use and left to rot on the port’s pebble beach were burned and large rubbish bins were placed in key positions all over the island. For the past two months garbage has been regularly collected and all the beaches were thoroughly cleaned by Spyros Vlachopoulos (Arnadelas) and his son, Babis, owners of “Mariana’.
