The coincidental research in the olive grove of Alky Vellianiti in the area of Lagadia in the village of Magazia in 1995 uncovered a tomb of the Hellenistic period with a few jewellery items and the typical coin, that ancient Greeks believed was a ticket to the underworld. The excavations continued and were intensified after 2003. The presentation of all the findings there and elsewhere on the island was made by archeologist Selma Avgerinou very recently in a conference in Ioannina. Hopefully we will all be able to admire the findings on Paxos.
