Peripheral road in Gaios
Date: 04/08/2009
Two years have already passed after the Local Council’s decision to build a peripheral road around Gaios village, directed from south to west, which will liberate the village from heavy traffic. The topographic plan and owners’ list of properties, from where the new road will pass, will soon be announced in posters at the Mayor’s office for everyone to see. Public discussions will also take place and off course there will be adequate time for appeals.
This new peripheral road will begin at the little bridge of Katsimatika, passed Koudouro settlement (the hill above the bus stop), will cut across the Gaios – Ozias road at the big olive tree, will climb up to Gionis settlement and will finally meet the port road right after the house of Spyros Lekkas (Baronos), which locals call “Aggiolina’s curve. The particular road will also play the role of border line for the recent proposal of village expansion.
A side road will be built at the junction of Ozias road towards Giannas beach and the parking space there for those who wish to enter Gaios.
