This year’s European festivities celebrating Music lasted in Greece from the 21st to the 23rd of June 2009 and concerts took place in 23 different Greek towns and cities. Paxos participated in the celebrations and hosted a concert by the Greek band called Antidotum Tarantulae, who specialize on South Italy folk music. The particular group was founded in 2002 with the intention of spreading the original values of folk music tradition of South Italy, which has a very strong link with Greece since ancient times. All five of them are young Greek musicians with a strong connection with traditional Mediterranean music, who love combining tradition with modern ways of musical expression from classical to Jazz and rock. The particular concert was organized by the Municipal Cultural Society “Poseidon” and managed to assemble all kinds of people, who danced during the whole concert in the small square in front of Agia Triada church until late. Children of many nationalities overcame language barriers and played or danced holding hands in front of the group forcing the adults to relax as well and enjoy the tarantellas, the love songs or the Grecano songs in an all summer environment.
