The Cultural Villages project of Anchise for the elderly people, that took place almost 5 years ago, did not only produce the book about "The Paxiot workshop". The common wish of all the elderly participants to have an old people's home on Paxos so that the sick, lonely or helpless elderly will not be forced to leave their beloved island became more than a dream. The municipal office took over the idea and after many discussions and efforts from various volunteers the church agreed to offer a piece to land, where the home for the elderly could be built.
On the 12th of July 2010 an official contract was signed between the Board of Directors of St Charalabos church, legally represented by reverend Charalabos Mastoras and the Mayor of Paxos for the use of approximately 4 thousand square meters of land owned by the particular church, on which the home will be built with the use of European funds.
The contract will stop being valid if 10 years go by without the realization of the particular project, for which the land has been handed over to the Municipal authorities.
Lawyers Betty Bogdanou and Nancy Lychnou as well as the notary public, Gianna Vlassi offered their legal services for free for the particular cause.
