Everybody knows of the serious damages caused by heavy winter storms almost 2 years ago in two different spots of Gaios port; one is in front of Mediterraneo (Manesko area) restaurant and the other at the New port, where the ferry from Igoumenitsa usually docks. Bureaucratic behavior on behalf of the Organization of Ports of Corfu and other problems caused a grave delay in resolving the particular issue.
Works at Manesko have finally started a few days ago. We hope that the new much awaited Board of Directors of OLKE (Organization of Ports of Corfu) will chose to proceed immediately towards the mending of the New Port damaged area.
On the other hand the enlargement of the port of Agrapidia in Antipaxos has been decided for some time now. The local Council decided unanimously on the 9th of June 2010 to appoint the Municipal Authority as manager of the "Fishing Port of Agrapidia". This way the self direction and management of the particular port will be secured. Relevant construction plans and authorizations are already under way.
