Proceeds will go to local charity

Date: 03/08/2010

"Poseidon" Cultural Association of the Municipality of Paxos in collaboration with Daniela Sambo present rare black and white photographs of Paxiots right after the war taken by Manolis Vlachopoulos in the early '50s. The exhibition will take place in Loggos at the Old Customs house by Taxidi bar between the 4th and 13th of August 2010. The oppening will take place on Wednesday, 4 of August at 21.00.

Manolis Vlachopoulos worked for many years as a butcher at Aggelos Mastoras' s shop in Lakka and during recent years in Gaios at the supermarket of Robolas. He always considered taking photos as only a hobby. He never realized how talented he was and how important his photos were; especially nowadays that glimpses of old Paxos are rare and precious.

Municipal authorities presented a first banch of his photos in 2004 in Gaios. This time more of his photos will be presented and for the first time copies of his photos will be available for anyone interested to purchase them. Proceeds of the sales will go to a local charity cause.

A short music happening  - in memory of Manolis Vlachopoulos who died a few months ago - will also take place during the exhibition opening. Entrance is free.
