Vasilis Romanos, our fellow islander and well known painter with many successful exhibitions in Athens, Milan, Lecce, Paris and N. York was recently distinguished at an international painting exhibition in Milan (Italy). The works of six hundred painters from all over the world were appraised by a committee of art professors of the Milan School of Fine Arts. V. Romanos’s painting won 5th prize in the category of Modern Art. We congratulate him and wish him our island’s serene beauty will continue inspiring him for many years. The Mayor’s office has been sponsoring an annual exhibition of his works in Gaios for the last 3 years, the proceeds of which are offered to various causes concerning the wellbeing of Paxiots.
