The rubbish dump on the west coast of Paxos is officially closed and sealed for some time now. Municipal authorities have entered the particular area in a project to restore its natural environment and to create a Reloading Station, from where local trash will be transported to the rubbish plant in Corfu. Companies like ENVIC Lmd and EPTA lmtd were appointed to make the research studies; those were approved on a first level by the Technical Authorities of the Peripheral Office of the Ionion Sea area. When all necessary procedures come to an end, the whole project will acquire a certain funding code and works will begin to restore the ugly rubbish hip along with the creation of a Reloading Station, so as to be able to carry all the island’s rubbish to Corfu on a regular basis, keeping our island clean and tidy.
