Paxos Folk Museum in Gaios (by the port road) is one of the most visited buildings every summer season. Because of the large number of exhibits our museum possesses, the increasing donation of paintings for the municipal picture gallery and the annually increasing numbers of its visitors, municipal authorities decided on taking actions to improve the exhibition area of both the museum and the art gallery at the adjoining hall. A civil engineer made a plan of the grounds (picture gallery, folk museum, store rooms, yard). The Mayor of Paxos, Spyros Bogdanos, contacted the Ministry of Culture on the matter and the local Council agreed to appoint architect, Marilena Koskina to prepare a study for the enlarging of the above space. As soon as the architectural design is finalized, funding will be extracted from a certain combination of European and governmental resources to enlarge the museum halls, to create new space for the picture gallery, to create new space for exhibiting archeological finds and to keep the yard space free for open space summer concerts.
