Air Sea lines announces:
“Three months suspension of flights”
Date: 30/12/2008
Air Sea lines announced a three months suspension of all flights starting from 1st of December 2008. The company had sent a letter to Athens administration officials since the 18th of November 2008 explaining its financial bleeding during winter months. Since the Greek state and local authorities acknowledge the enormous social and financial impact as well as the high quality services rendered by the companyΆs hydroplanes in the linkage between the Ionion islands, the Greek mainland and the outh of Italy, it seems almost incomprehensible that the companyΆs request of a subsidy of flights during winter months, when the number of passengers diminish dramatically, was denied.
During the period between the 1st of January and 30th November 2008 11.705 passengers used Air Sea lines for their transportation. Paxos Municipal Authorities are determined to do everything in their power to maintain the hydroplane as a means of transportation for the benefit of the Paxiots.
