After many years of neglect, the Malethonas cistern was cleared from debris and wild plants by municipal workers. Nikos Kolovos, a Paxiot living close by volunteered to supervise the works. After the work was finished, the Mayor thanked mr Kolovos for efforts. THe particular cister was constructed between 1882 and 1885 by the contructor, Panagiotis Andronis and takes approximately 500 cubic meters of water.
