“Earth Hour”
Paxos participates in a worldwide WWF campaign Global Climate Change

“Earth Hour” is a worldwide initiative of the non governmental environmental organization WWF against climate change.
WWF asks every inhabitant of our Planet to switch of their house lights for one hour on Saturday 28 March 2009 at exactly 20.30.
The organizationΆs target is for 1 billion people and 1000 cities all over the world to participate in the “Earth Hour” initiative, so as to prove that our planetΆs climate is in the hands of each and every one of us.
Up to now 77 different countries and 400 cities have signed in. Municipality of Paxos is one of them. Together we can prove that Greeks and Paxiots do care about environmental issues.
Our target is really high and we need all of you as valuable allies in our struggle against climate change.
Whoever wishes to participate in the “Earth Hour” initiative can visit the website: www.earthhour.org/Greece and sign in their participation. The particular website is the exclusive participation counting mechanism on a global level.
On Wednesday, 18 February 2009 WWF – Greece organized a press conference where their representative announces the first Greek towns accepting to participate in the “Earth Hour” initiative.
Sky tv and the Athens newspaper “I Kathimerini” are media sponsors for this new WWF – Greece effort.
