House Compost Program will start on Paxos
After the visit of some of the local council’s members to the Municipality of Thessaloniki last fall, the council voted in favor of a compost program of organic house waste for Paxos. The program will cost approximately 17.850 euro and 250 special waste bins have been ordered with the support of Corfu Prefecture and General Secretary Mr Vosdou. Those bins offer the possibility of turning food waste (fruit, vegetable, garden leaves etc) into compost, useful as high quality fertilizer. This way 30-35% of the island’s total garbage will turn into compost and will save community money in gathering and transporting this type of rubbish. ...
