The scientific Commitee of the 9nth Panionion Conference, which will be organized on Paxos for the first time in more than a century, has officially started its preparation works this month. The Panionion Conference is a meeting of scientists, composers, poets, historians, architects, documentary or film directors, writers and all kind of researchers, who think, write, research, create anything with the Ionian islands as their subject. It is organized every 2 years in one of the 7 Ionian islands and for the first time it will be held on Paxos with the 26th of May 2010 as its starting date for 4 days. Different conference halls will be active in Gaios, where more than 100 speakers will be presenting their work to the public.Many cultural events will be hosted on Paxos in honor of the Conference and everything will have large press coverage. Publications in greek and english will follow soon after the conference end. A "Society of Paxiot Studies" has been created since the summer of 2008 to organize the whole event. Announcements about the presentation themes, timetables and cultural events will be announced in due time by the Municipal authorities. ...
