FERIEN TRAVEL & TOURISM EXHIBITION 2015 - VIENNA, AUSTRIA

In an effort to access new tourism markets, two members of the Paxos council took part in the Ferien International Travel & Tourism Expo held in Vienna Austria between 15-18 January this year. This is the largest Expo of its kind in central Europe with over 150,000 visitors and is responsible each year for guiding trends for the upcoming tourist season. Paxos was hosted on the stand run jointly by the Greek Tourist Board (EOT) and the Prefecture of the Ionian Islands.

The island was presented as a new tourist destination with special emphasis being placed on its natural beauty, its unspoilt beaches, its suitability for romantic getaways, for walking holidays and the friendliness of the locals. Over the course of the Exhibition Paxos was kept in the spotlight via a competition entitled ‘The Paxos Kiss' and the lucky winner will enjoy a 7 day stay on the island with flights, accommodation, meals and guided boat trips included in the prize. Participation in the competition exceeded all expectations. Thanks to the assistance of the Viennese EOT, Paxos will also be featured in the international German travel magazine ‘Traveller' and on Radio NO.

Mr Giorgo Lychno and Mr Christo Grammatiko who took part in the Expo, would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs Heide Eggeling and Mr Andreas Nather for their warm hospitality, to the EOT of Vienna, to the wine producing and distribution company ‘Andreadis', to Mrs Renata and Nikos Manolako and especially to all the Paxos businesses who kindly donated the prizes for the competion.
